I usually don’t go to restaurants that misspell the word “restaurant,” but I am happy to make an exception for Ristaurante Aso in Daikanyama.  The folks at Michelin awarded Ristaurante Aso with a star, and having visited Aso for lunch twice and dinner once, I agree that the star is well deserved.

Chef Aso studied in top restaurants in both Italy and France, and has created dishes that incorporate Japanese influence as well.  Ristaurante Aso is one of the Hiramatsu group restaurants.  I am have only been to two of the Hiramatsu restaurants, but both have the unique for Tokyo feature of offered corkage for free.  Hiramatsu restaurants have earned quite a few Michelin stars, and consider themselves “destination” restaurants which provide a great experience at a price.  But when you consider free corkage and high level of food and service, you can get a good value, especially at lunch.

Ristaurante's version of caprese featured a mozellera and olive foam served with sliced cherry tomatoes served in a martini glass.

Courses range from 7,000~20,000 but Aso also charges an additional 13% service fee.
